The Salvation Army Hall in Pill was a hive of activity on Thursday, 6th December when 18 local children, between 10 months and four years, were treated to a Picnic organised by Gordano Breakfast Rotary Club under the auspices of the Kids Out organisation. There was also a rumour afoot that there would be a very special visitor dropping in later.
Parents and children enjoyed the finger food of sandwiches, fruit and assorted savouries washed down with apple or orange juice. Just as the last of the children finished the picnic, there was a knocking on the door and one of the children exclaimed, “Santa is here!” In he came, as large as life and was immediately besieged by a host of little people. The excitement continued as Santa called the children by name, to come and receive their customized gift bag.
The event proved to be a very happy start to the Christmas festivities, and there are already plans for a reprise in 2019.
